Visakhapatnam: At least 50 workers working with an apparel manufacturing unit in the Brandix Special Economic Zone in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalle district feel ill after reports of gas leak on Tuesday. The factory, who suffered due to the gas leak, reported of nausea and vomiting after the incident.
The victims were given first aid in the SEXZ where factory is located and were shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Anakapalle police, which reached the spot after the incident, said that the gas leak reportedly took place at the premises of Brandix. It said that 50 people were taken to the hospital. Police officials on the spot also informed to carry out evacuation drive from the factory premises.
According to the reports, apart from local authorities, a team comprising from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad has also visited the lab and has conducted tests to determine the cause of the leak while the state Pollution Control Board ordered the closure of the lab.
