The encounter comes amid the Punjab Police tailing two suspects — Jagroop and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kussa.

Chandigarh: Two suspects in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case were killed on Wednesday in an encounter with the police near Amritsar. Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kussa, both suspects in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, were gunned down. In the milieu, three policemen and a mediaperson received injuries.
The encounter comes amid the Punjab Police tailing the two suspects. The shootout took place at the Bhakna village, 20 km from Amritsar.
Before the shootout ensued, the police asked all residents to stay indoors. While the police are yet to inform what happened to Mannu, they said as many as eight shooters were arrested from the spot.
Singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, a day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had withdrawn his security covers along with that of VVIPs.
Moosewala usually moved around in his bullet proof Fortuner but on May 29, he was on a Thar which is not bullet proof. The singer-rapper-politician was rushed to the Mansa Civil Hospital in a critical condition but died during treatment.
On June 8, the Delhi Police had claimed that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is the mastermind in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. The police, however, had said, that Bishnoi has not confessed to have had a role in the murder but said his gang planned it. Lawrence Bishnoi also said the motive to kill Sidhu Moosewala was in retaliation to the killing of Akali leader Vicky Middukhera last year.
The investigation also led the police to unearth the alleged role of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar.
