Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance in Tamil Nadu sealed a seat-sharing pact with two more parties on Thursday — the CPI(M) and the CPI. The total number of allies in the alliance now stands at four while senior leaders indicated that other parties may join as well.
Earlier, the DMK had etched a pact with the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) — both the parties will contest one seat each in Tamil Nadu.
On Thursday, the Left party leaders said more than how many seats they have been allotted, the leadership is concerned about the greater national interest and is happy with what they have got.
CPI(M) state secretary K Balakrishnan said the BJP is leading a “fascist” government and asserted that the INDIA alliance has made noteworthy advancements. Balakrishnan also said that the BJP and its allies will lose all the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Selvaperunthagai said party president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit the state soon and finalise the seat sharing deal with the DMK. He added, so far, the talks with the DMK has been smooth and soon, an outcome is expected.
Earlier, Amidst challenges faced by the INDIA bloc, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) resolved their differences and reached a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Chandigarh and Goa.
Meanwhile in Uttar Pradesh, According to the seat-sharing pact for the Lok Sabha polls, Congress will field candidates from 17 seats while the Samajwadi Party will do so in 63 seats. There are a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, making it the state with the highest number of seats in the lower house of Parliament.
