Devendra alias Kala, was arrested by the Punjab Police from Haryana’s Fatehabad for his alleged role in the Sidhu Moosewala murder.
New Delhi: A week after the murder of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala, the Punjab Police on Monday claimed to have arrested the third accused in the case. According to sources, the interrogation of the two arrested earlier led to the third arrest.
Devendra alias Kala, was arrested by the Punjab Police from Haryana’s Fatehabad after the law enforcement agency received information that Kala had housed two of main accused – Keshav and Charanjeet.
Hours after he was cremated, the Punjab Police on last Tuesday had claimed to have arrested one of the culprits behind the murder of singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala.
The arrested was identified as Manpreet Singh and he was arrested from Uttarakhand. Singh was produced before a court in Mansa.
The arrest had come on a day the Delhi Police took jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in its custody in connection with an Arms Act case and a day after the Special Cell of the Delhi Police interrogated Bishnoi inside the Tihar Jail over the murder of singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala.
Bishnoi was earlier lodged in a Rajasthan jail and was recently shifted to Delhi in connection with an MCOCA case. Police sources said once in Delhi, he allegedly contacted his associates and tasked Shahrukh to kill Moose Wala. However, the plan failed and later Shahrukh was arrested by a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
Recently, Moosewala’s parents met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded a CBI probe into the murder of their son.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by assailants believed to be connected with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang a day after his security cover was removed by the Punjab government. Days after the government received flak for the move, it decided to restore the security cover of all the 424 VVIPs whose security covers were removed.
