A student at Sharda University in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead in her hostel room on Friday, in what police have confirmed as a case of suicide. The development led to significant unrest on campus, with students expressing anger toward the university’s administration.
Greater Noida Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Sudhir Kumar confirmed the incident on Saturday and said that the woman’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. “Students were agitated over Sharda University’s administration. They were pacified. The situation is under control. Further action is being undertaken,” Kumar said.
Two Staff Members Arrested After Family Files Complaint
In connection with the case, police have arrested two university staff members. “Two staff members from the management of the university have been arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by the family members of the student,” said ADCP Sudhir Kumar.
As of now, Sharda University has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
