In today’s election, a turnout of 35 percent was recorded till 1 pm.
New Delhi: Amid deployment of police force in Gujarat, second phase of voting is taking place in full swing. Voters of Assembly constituencies across 14 districts of north and central Gujarat have been casting their vote to choose their representative. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also casted his vote at his home constituency. Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, too, voted in their assembly constituencies and appealed voters to turn up in large numbers.
The assembly elections this time witnessing three-way contest as the Aam Aadmi Party has also been fighting on all assembly seats. The BJP, which is in power since nearly three decades, has been claiming to retain the state again while the Congress is claiming to snatch the power. The new entrant, Aam Aadmi Party, is claiming that the people are fed up with both the traditional parties and will show confidence in AAP this time. Meanwhile, all senior leaders from across the political parties were seen camping in the poll-bound state ahead of voting day.
If talking about the anti-incumbency, the BJP leaders are claiming that they will it into pro-incumbency. They were seen seeking votes for a double-engine government. “We have been ensuring all round growth of the state and Centre is doing its best also. In result, we have ensured maximum growth and if BJP comes in power we will speed up the process,” said a senior party leaders.
Congress party alleging that the ruling party has done nothing in the last five years. “Except branding, the BJP has done nothing in the state. People in the state are not happy at all and desperately want a change. Since Congress is a trusted party, people will ensure its victory this time,” said a senior Congress leaders.
The AAP leaders claiming that people of Gujarat want a change with a new party. Earlier they had no alternate but this time they will choose their candidates. “We are getting massive support in the state. People are willing to defeat BJP and choose AAP. Our rallies, roadshows were jam packed. We are confident of our victory this time,” said a party leader.
There was low voter percentage in first phase of voting which held on December 1. Many of the political analysts had criticized the voters for not taking part in elections enthusiastically. In today’s election, a turnout of 35 percent was recorded till 1 pm.
