A joint statement issued by Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, following a meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi de-facto ruler Prince Mohammed bin Salman, seemed to support India’s stand on Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement emphasized the importance of dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve outstanding issues, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, to ensure peace and stability in the region.

India has long maintained that Kashmir is a bilateral issue between itself and Pakistan, rejecting any mediation or intervention by third parties.
While both India and Pakistan have friendly relations with Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, ties between New Delhi and Riyadh have notably improved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Saudi Arabia has generally taken a balanced approach to the Jammu and Kashmir issue. While expressing concern over India’s abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, Saudi Arabia did not explicitly condemn the action, referring to it as India’s internal matter.
In the past, Pakistan has sought US intervention to persuade India to engage in talks on resolving the Kashmir issue. However, India has consistently reiterated its stance that any discussion on the matter would be held only bilaterally with Pakistan.
India has reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and desires normal neighborly relations with Pakistan, free from terrorism, hostility, and violence.
