Investigation and Security Concerns
Police sources told India Today TV that there is a duct in Saif Ali Khan’s home that opens into his bedroom, which may have been used by the attacker to gain entry. Renovation work ongoing in the housing society has also prompted the questioning of laborers involved in the project. Five members of Saif’s staff are being interrogated for additional details.
A forensic team has collected evidence from the crime scene, and eight police teams have been constituted to arrest the suspect. Visuals from the site showed Mumbai Police officials recording statements from locals as part of the investigation.
Despite initial speculation, a senior police official declined to confirm whether the attack was part of a robbery attempt, citing the ongoing investigation.
Law and Order Under Scrutiny
The attack on Saif Ali Khan has reignited concerns over security and law enforcement in Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra’s Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, questioning the city’s safety.
“What a shame that Mumbai sees another high-profile attempt on life. The attack on Saif Ali Khan yet again raises questions on Mumbai Police and the Home Minister,” Chaturvedi stated in a post on X.
Similarly, NCP (SP) leader Clyde Crasto expressed concerns about the city’s deteriorating law and order situation.
“Attack on Saif Ali Khan is a cause for concern because if such high-profile people with levels of security can be attacked in their homes, then what could happen to common citizens? Fear of law seems to be at a low in Maharashtra due to leniencies in the past couple of years,” Crasto said in a post on X.
Rising Concerns Over Celebrity Safety
This incident comes months after an alleged attack on Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, where two men on a motorbike, reportedly affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, opened fire. The recurring threats to high-profile individuals underline the need for stronger security measures and prompt action by law enforcement agencies.
