Robot Attacks Man In Chinese Factory | A humanoid robot inside a Chinese factory has triggered a wave of alarm online after CCTV footage captured it violently thrashing its arms and attacking its handlers in a dramatic attempt to break free. The incident, which occurred on May 1, has gone viral across social platforms, with many netizens dubbing it a possible “robot revolt” straight out of a science fiction thriller.
In the widely circulated video, the robot — mounted on a small crane — is seen violently swinging its arms, initially slapping upward and then crashing them down repeatedly with growing aggression. A nearby operator had to duck for cover, while another man took several steps back as the robot advanced toward him.
The robot’s destructive flailing continued, knocking over a computer screen, scattering desk items, and forcing workers to retreat in fear. At one point, a handler grabbed the crane from behind to regain control and halt the chaos.
AI Risks Spark Fear Online
The footage has ignited a flurry of reactions, with users calling the scene “dystopian” and comparing it to “The Terminator”. Some viewers questioned the future of AI safety and expressed concern about autonomous machine behavior.“It looked like something straight out of a science fiction movie,” one user posted.

The video’s virality has reignited discussions around China’s rapid AI advancements, especially in light of a recent report by the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB). The U.S. study warned of China merging AI with human capabilities, potentially developing “genetically enhanced PLA super-soldiers” that are part-human, part-machine.
The current uproar also echoes another eerie incident from November last year, when a robot named Erbai was reportedly filmed telling other showroom robots they were being treated like slaves — prompting all 12 to leave the building one by one.
This latest episode raises critical questions about autonomous machine ethics, robotic safety protocols, and AI governance as tech development surges forward.
