Background of the Case
The Supreme Court is hearing a plea filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), accusing Patanjali of running a smear campaign against the Covid-19 vaccination drive and modern medical practices. The court previously stated that products with suspended licenses should not be sold, emphasizing the need to withdraw them from the market immediately.

The Supreme Court had noted that if a license is suspended, the product should be withdrawn from sale from that day forward. Justice Amanullah emphasized the necessity of removing these products from the market.
Regulatory Actions
The Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority confirmed the suspension of manufacturing licenses for 14 products of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and Divya Pharmacy. The Supreme Court had also reserved its order on a contempt notice issued to Baba Ramdev, his aide Balkrishna, and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd regarding misleading advertisements.
The Supreme Court had asked Patanjali to address the misleading advertisements still available on various internet channels. The court questioned the company’s efforts to remove these ads, pointing out the need for compliance with the suspension order.
Patanjali Ayurved’s adherence to the Supreme Court’s directive and the subsequent legal proceedings will be closely watched, as the company navigates regulatory and compliance challenges.
