In a scathing critique of the recent NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of compromising the integrity of educational institutions, leading to recurring paper leaks. Gandhi described paper leaks as an “anti-national activity”, asserting that they significantly harm the country’s youth, who represent the future of India.
Allegations Against BJP
Rahul Gandhi claimed that the BJP and its parent organization have systematically infiltrated universities and placed their allies in key positions, thus enabling corruption and malpractice. He argued that as long as the BJP maintains this control, the issue of paper leaks will persist.
“Paper leaks are happening because all the universities and their vice-chancellors have been captured by the BJP and its parent organization. They have penetrated the educational institutions and destroyed them… As long as this capture cannot be reversed, paper leaks will continue,” Rahul Gandhi stated.

Highlighting the infamous Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi suggested that such corruption is now being replicated across the nation. “Vyapam happened in Madhya Pradesh.

Now the government is spreading it across the nation,” he said during a press conference. Gandhi’s comments come amid widespread student protests and political backlash following allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam results.
NEET Controversy
The controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2024 results erupted on June 4, when the results were declared earlier than expected. Allegations of paper leaks and unprecedented full marks for multiple students have fueled demands for a re-examination. The situation intensified after four individuals confessed to leaking the exam paper a day before the test. As a result, the government cancelled the UGC-NET exam, citing potential integrity issues.
Government and Opposition Responses
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had initially dismissed the possibility of a NEET paper leak. However, the subsequent cancellation of the UGC-NET exam has led to significant criticism from the opposition. The BJP, in turn, accused the Congress and its ally, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), of being responsible for the NEET paper leak. BJP media cell chief Amit Malviya suggested that Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, attempted to deflect attention from the scam.
Supreme Court’s Stand
The Supreme Court has reprimanded the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam, for its handling of the situation. The court emphasized the need for thorough accountability, stating, “If there’s even 0.001% negligence on anyone’s part, it should be thoroughly dealt with.”
The NEET-UG 2024 paper leak scandal has escalated into a major political controversy, with both the government and opposition trading accusations. As investigations continue, the focus remains on ensuring transparency and accountability in the examination process to restore trust among students and the public. The government’s response and the outcome of the investigation will be closely watched in the coming weeks.
