Kochi: In a scary incident unfolding at the Aarattupuzha temple in Kerala, two elephants engaged in a violent clash, sparking pandemonium among attendees during the arat ritual on Friday.
The confrontation, captured in a viral video shared by Samakalika Malayalam, depicted a religious ceremony embellished with golden adornments on the elephants, abruptly disrupted by the ferocious altercation.

The distressing scene unfolded as one elephant began spinning before charging at another nearby tusker, initiating a tumultuous encounter. The force of the attack caused the second elephant to recoil, intensifying the chaos as bystanders scrambled to evade the clash.
Amidst the mounting fear and confusion, members of the elephant squad swiftly intervened, bravely stepping in to separate the agitated animals and prevent a potential tragedy.
Reports indicate that the confrontation occurred around 10:30 PM during the arat ritual procession, involving Guruvayur Ravikrishnan, a prominent temple elephant, and Sri Kumaran, another participant in the procession. Despite initial alarm among witnesses, the timely intervention of the elephant squad averted any casualties and brought the situation under control.
Following the intervention, both elephants retreated from each other, evading attempts by temple staff to restrain them. However, with the assistance of the elephant squad, the animals were successfully contained, ensuring the safety of all attendees and averting further incidents.
