Karnataka Exorcism Death | A 55-year-old woman, Geetamma, from Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, was allegedly beaten to death on Monday night during a ritual meant to drive out an “evil spirit.” Police have registered a case of murder against the woman’s son Sanjay and two others involved in the incident — Asha and her husband Santosh — who claimed to be performing the exorcism.
According to officials, Sanjay believed his mother was possessed and took her to Asha, a woman who purportedly conducted rituals to remove spirits. Asha and Santosh arrived at Geetamma’s home and began the so-called exorcism, which quickly turned violent.
Ritual Turns Fatal, All Three Accused Arrested for Murder
A disturbing video of the incident shows a semi-conscious Geetamma seated on the floor with disheveled hair as Asha performs the ritual using a lemon. Asha can be seen rotating the lemon around Geetamma’s head, forcing her to smell it, and then hitting her on the head with it. The lemon is later split and rubbed forcefully on the woman’s scalp.

The situation escalated when Asha pulled Geetamma by her hair, slapped her multiple times, and began beating her with a stick. Despite her attempts to protect herself, Geetamma was subjected to hours of assault. The attack, captured on camera, reportedly continued from 9:30 pm until 1:00 am.
Geetamma succumbed to her injuries sustained during the ritual. Following the incident, all three accused — Sanjay, Asha, and Santosh — were arrested, and a case of murder has been registered.
