KT Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtriya Samithi (BRS), took a dig at Kangana Ranaut, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi seat for the Lok Sabha elections, after she purportedly referred to freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as “India’s first Prime Minister.”
In a post on X, KTR remarked, “One BJP candidate from North says Subhas Chandra Bose was our first PM!! And another BJP leader from South says Mahatma Gandhi was our PM!! Where did all these people graduate from?”

The purported statement by Kangana Ranaut was made during a television interview where she questioned, “Tell me one thing, when we got independence, where did India’s first PM Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose go?”
‘सुभाष चंद्र बोस, आज़ाद हिंदुस्तान के पहले प्रधानमंत्री थे.’

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also shared Kangana Ranaut’s statement and commented, “Don’t take her lightly – she will go ahead in the list of BJP leaders.”
Kangana Ranaut, a vocal supporter of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was named as one of the BJP’s candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. She expressed her gratitude for being chosen as the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from her birthplace, Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, in an Instagram post.
The Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, historically contested by erstwhile royal families, has seen Congress and BJP dominance over the years. While Congress has won the seat multiple times, BJP has also secured victories, including in the 2014 and 2019 general elections.
However, in 2021, Congress won the seat in a by-election following the tragic demise of the BJP MP. Currently, BJP holds three out of the four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh.
