Two Indian students tragically drowned while hiking with friends at a popular tourist spot in Scotland. The bodies of the two men, identified as Jitendranath Karuturi (26) and Chanhakya Bolisetti (22), were recovered from the water near the Linn of Tumme, where two rivers converge, on Wednesday night.
The group of friends, including the two Indian students who drowned, were pursuing Master’s degrees at the Dundee University. According to a police officer, there were no unusual circumstances surrounding the incident.
An official from the Indian High Commission in London confirmed that the bodies of the two students were found downstream. The families of the deceased have been notified and a consular representative has met with a student who resides in the UK. Dundee University has pledged assistance to the families during this difficult time.
The post-mortem examination of the two Indian students is scheduled for Friday, following which arrangements will be made to repatriate the bodies to India. The tragic incident has deeply saddened the community, and efforts are underway to provide support and comfort to the families affected by this loss.
