New Delhi: Moments after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal raised the question of PM Narendra Modi’s retirement next year, MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday hit back at BJP leader Amit Shah’s statement. Shah had clarified that there’s no such retirement age rule in the BJP’s constitution and affirmed the continuity of PM Modi’s leadership.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP said that Modi himself has made a rule that the BJP leaders will retire after attaining the age of 75 years. Under this rule, senior leaders like LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were denied contesting the elections and retired. Therefore, the PM Modi should tell the country why he will not implement the rules made by him on himself? This makes it clear that he is greedy for power. If the 75-year rule does not apply to PM Modi, then why were dozens of leaders dealt with under it?

He said the entire BJP got upset on this legitimate question of Kejriwal, and now Amit Shah is saying that this rule will not apply to PM Modi. Therefore, PM Modi should tell whether he will retire after completing 75 years of age or will continue to be the Prime Minister.

Sanjay Singh said in a press conference at the party headquarters on Saturday that Arvind Kejriwal has asked a very legitimate question to the BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has made principles and rules for his party leaders. Modi himself said that after the age of 75 years, the leaders will not be allowed to contest elections and they will retire. Under this rule, leaders like LK Advani, the co-founder of the BJP, and Murli Manohar Joshi were retired. Under the same rule, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha and former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan were also sidelined. Apart from this, tickets of many BJP MPs were also cancelled.

Singh said that today Arvind Kejriwal raised the question that Modi will retire as he is going to turn 75 next year. After his retirement, Shah will become the Prime Minister of the country. In such a situation, who will fulfill Modi ji’s guarantees? Firstly, PM Modi has not fulfilled even one of the guarantees he has given in the last 10 years, there is no trust at all in the guarantees that he is giving now. As per his own rule, he will retire as soon as he turns 75.
