New Delhi: Sources on Thursday said the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have reached a consensus on their Delhi seat-sharing arrangement for the seven Lok Sabha seats following extensive discussions this week.
Confirmations from sources within both parties indicate that the AAP will contest four Lok Sabha seats while the Congress will fight three.
A senior leader from the Congress disclosed that the agreement was solidified after the AAP accepted the Congress’ proposal to contest one Lok Sabha seat of its preference along with another suggested by the Congress.
The leader said, “The formal announcement of the Delhi seat-sharing, detailing the allocation of seats for each party, is expected to be made on Friday.”

As per sources in the Congress, the alliance is likely to secure the East and North West Lok Sabha seats regardless of the specific constituency chosen for the third seat to be contested by the party.
“We will evaluate the viability of candidates put forth by both parties for the third seat, but it’s highly probable that the Congress will nominate its candidates for the East and North West Delhi Lok Sabha seats,” affirmed the Congress leader.
According to a senior Congress leader, the third constituency the party is poised to contest is anticipated to be chosen from among Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, or West Delhi Parliamentary constituencies.
The latest development came a day after the INDIA alliance in Uttar Pradesh announced the seat-sharing deal. According to reports, Congress will fight from 17 seats while the Samajwadi Party will do so from 63 seats.
According to the seat-sharing pact in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls, the constituencies that the Congress will contest from are Amethi, Kanpur Shahar, Fatehpur Sikri, Bansgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Mahahrajganj, Varanasi, Amroha, Jhansi, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki, Deoria, and Rae Bareli.
