In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing Middle East conflict, United States’ B-2 Spirit bombers flew non-stop for nearly 37 hours from Missouri to Iran, delivering powerful strikes on three of Iran’s most critical nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. The strike, confirmed by both the Pentagon and President Donald Trump, marks the most direct and forceful US military action against Iran in decades.
“Fordow is gone,” President Trump said, referring to the heavily fortified underground nuclear enrichment site that has long been a symbol of Iran’s nuclear resilience. The operation, carried out using a mix of six bunker-buster bombs and around 30 Tomahawk missiles, was described by Trump as “an amazing success.”
He further warned Iran, “Make peace immediately or they’ll get hit again,” asserting the US’s readiness to strike again if provoked.
Bunker-Busters and Tomahawks Used in Long-Distance Precision Strike
The attack was executed by B-2 stealth bombers refuelling multiple times mid-air before delivering their payload. These bombers, capable of carrying the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, specifically target deeply buried and fortified structures like Fordow.
According to Iranian media outlet Tasnim, one official confirmed that parts of the Fordow facility had suffered damage due to “enemy airstrikes.” The bombers, after completing their mission, safely exited Iranian airspace and are now “on their way home,” Trump stated on his social platform Truth Social, hailing the efforts of “our great American Warriors.”

The mission came shortly after the US relocated B-2 aircraft to Guam, preparing for potential intervention amid rising hostilities. Until now, Israel had been carrying out limited strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, but experts noted it lacked the ability to penetrate Fordow’s defences—a gap the US has now filled.

The B-2 bomber strike comes after Israel’s preemptive campaign against Iran, alleging Tehran was just weeks away from assembling a nuclear weapon. The week-long conflict has already resulted in over 400 deaths and 3,500 injuries in Iran, and 14 deaths and more than 1,200 injuries in Israel, making it one of the worst escalations between the two nations in years.
The Israeli government confirmed it closely coordinated with Washington, and President Trump reportedly spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the mission. Trump is expected to deliver a formal Oval Office address later in the day to update the American public on the situation.
As tensions remain high and retaliation from Tehran looms, President Trump’s decision to engage militarily represents a pivotal moment in US foreign policy and the evolving landscape of Middle East geopolitics.
