Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on Tuesday morning, triggering widespread waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and a red alert for several parts of the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, warning of intense rainfall activity within a short span.
According to IMD data, the capital recorded 8 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours ending at 8:30 am, with the minimum temperature settling at 26.8°C, slightly below the seasonal average. The relative humidity was noted at 70%, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 30°C under cloudy skies and moderate rain.
Flight Operations Hit; Airlines Issue Weather Advisories
The downpour not only crippled traffic across multiple areas of Delhi but also led to delays in flight operations. Visuals shared by ANI showed commuters navigating through waterlogged streets, as the city struggled with poor drainage and slow vehicular movement.

Air India posted a weather alert stating,
“#TravelAdvisory: Gusty wind and rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi this morning.”
IndiGo also issued a travel update, urging passengers to plan extra time for their commute to the airport.
“With heavy rainfall expected over #Delhi, we’re seeing a chance of delays and slower traffic to and from the airport… Please check your flight status and consider giving yourself a little cushion of time to reach the airport.”
Despite the weather-related disruptions, air quality in Delhi remained satisfactory, with the AQI recorded at 87 as per CPCB data at 9 am.
