New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for nine hours on Monday in an alleged money laundering case connected to the National Herald newspaper. The probe agency has reportedly summoned Gandhi again tomorrow for further questioning.

When the Congress leader was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it for questioning, scores of Congress workers descended on the streets as a part of a Satyagraha March. The ED has summoned Rahul Gandhi in connection with a probe into an alleged money laundering case.

After the march, Rahul Gandhi reached the ED office in connection with the National Herald case. Since Congress did not have prior permission to protest, several party workers were picked up by the Delhi Police. A senior police officer said, “Congress workers have been detained from Akbar Road, Q Point, APJ Kalam Road, and Man Singh Road and taken to the Mandir Marg police station.”

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, “The cowardly Modi government has converted central Delhi into a cantonment. What are hundreds of police barriers and thousands of police constables proving? Why the arrest of Congress workers? Is walking a crime?”

Reacting to the protests, BJP’s Sambit Patra said, “What Congress is doing today is ‘Jashn-e-Bhrashtachar’- celebrating corruption. Congress has yet again tried launching Rahul Gandhi module from the pad of corruption, we assure that he will meet the same fate, he will fail yet again.”

Meanwhile, days after testing Covid positive, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who too has been summoned by the ED, was on Sunday admitted to the Ganga Ram hospital in Delhi. Congress leaders, however, said that her condition is stable and she is under observation of senior doctors. Sonia Gandhi was reported Covid positive in beginning of this month.
