New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was questioned for nearly 11 hours on Tuesday, second day of questioning, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the National Herald money-laundering case. The probe agency has reportedly asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to rejoin the investigation Wednesday, the third consecutive day.
The former Congress president, amid protest by his party men against ED’s action, reached the ED office on scheduled time in morning. His sister and senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and other Congress leaders have also reached the central agency’s office.
Keeping in mind Congress’s protest march in the national capital on Monday, the police and paramilitary forces have been deployment in large numbers near the party headquarters in Delhi. Barricades have been put up to prevent movement of Congress workers.
Meanwhile, during the questioning, nobody, apart from ED employees will be allowed to enter the agency’s office and security forces are keeping an eye around the area to ensure Congress workers do not get to create a ruckus like Monday.
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been clamped across central Delhi. According to sources, on Monday, Rahul Gandhi was given a set of 45 questions to answer which he had to write down in his own handwriting according to the procedure.
On Monday, when the Congress leader was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it for questioning, scores of Congress workers had descended on the streets as a part of a Satyagraha March. The ED has summoned Rahul Gandhi in connection with a probe into an alleged money laundering case.
After the march, Rahul Gandhi reached the ED office in connection with the National Herald case. Since Congress did not have prior permission to protest, several party workers were picked up by the Delhi Police.
