Hyderabad: K Kavitha, a prominent leader of the BRS (Bharatiya Rashtriya Samithi), who was apprehended from her residence in Hyderabad by the Enforcement Directorate of Friday evening in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, was produced before the Rouse Avenue court in the national capital on Saturday.
Denouncing her arrest as illegal, Kavitha vowed to challenge it in legal proceedings. Upon her arrival in Delhi around midnight, Kavitha underwent medical examinations at the agency’s office following her arrest.
The Enforcement Directorate seeks custody for further interrogation of the former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter. Responding to her detention, brother of Kavitha and former Telangana minister K T Rama Rao expressed his concerns on social media platform X, denouncing what he termed as the misuse of power and institutions for settling political scores by the BJP government.
He also called upon the Enforcement Directorate to justify the urgency of the arrest when the matter is still under judicial review, scheduled for March 19.
Abuse of power and institutional misuse to settle political scores is something that has become increasingly common with BJP Govt in last 10 years

The financial investigative agency made a dramatic arrest of Telangana’s Legislative Council Member, K Kavitha, aged 46, following an extensive raid at her residence in Hyderabad, in connection with a money laundering case associated with the now-repealed Delhi excise policy.
Kavitha was taken into custody from her Banjara Hills residence amidst protests from hundreds of her supporters.
This arrest unfolds against the backdrop of the looming Lok Sabha elections and coincides with the completion of 100 days of the Congress government in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in Malkajgiri, a suburb of Hyderabad, for a massive roadshow also coincided with the day of Kavitha’s arrest.
The Supreme Court had previously granted Kavitha immunity from interrogation until Wednesday and had heard her petition against the agency’s summonses in the case on Friday. The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
