How is the Myanmar military dealing with the earthquake’s fallout?
Ever since overthrowing the previous Myanmar government back in 2021, the military junta has struggled to control the country, plunging it into a deadly civil war that is still going on. The neglect which the military government has showed to Myanmar health infrastructure till now has only added to the problems that the earthquake has caused.
The UN office of human rights on Friday even complained that, the military government was blocking the delivery of critical aid supplies to the those quake hit areas where the locals are defying it’s rule.
The latest casualty report on Saturday was announced, after Myanmar’s military chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who runs the Junta government had returned from his recent foreign visit to Thailand where he attended the latest summit of BIMSTEC countries in Bangkok on Friday, alongside leaders of other countries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
How Other Countries are helping Myanmar to recover from the earthquake’s destruction?
Ever since the earthquake hit Myanmar many countries have come forward in support of Myanmar. The countries has so far gained aid from countries like China, Russia India and the US. India was one of the first countries who announced it’s support for Myanmar, it had also sent several rescue teams to the country to help locate survivors.
The US on Friday announced, that it was adding another $7m on top of an earlier $2m in assistance to Myanmar, but also added that it was unfair to expect the nation to keep leading humanitarian relief around the world.
