Sources in the party said the BJP’s main focus is to target the 144 seats that the party missed in 2019.
New Delhi: Even as the Opposition struggles to come on one platform against the BJP, the saffron party has already begun to prepare the roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The party on Tuesday held a mega meeting of the top leaders at the headquarters in Delhi.
Sources in the party said the BJP’s main focus is to target the 144 seats that the party missed in 2019. In 2019, the party had won 303 of the 543 seats. BJP is confident that it will be able to win the seats if it does proper groundwork.
Sources added that party president J P Nadda and chief strategist Amit Shah have asked each of the attending ministers to focus on three to four seats. That the BJP was already preparing the groundwork was clear from the fact that several Union ministers were paying multiple visits to their constituencies.
Sources also said that the ministers have been asked to provide their feedback on a portal called ‘Saral’. This portal asks for the minutest details. The strategy on each seat will be based on the feedback received.
The two top BJP leaders also asked the ministers to help strengthen the party organisation at the grassroot-level. Sources said, “This and other feedback will help BJP devise a proper strategy.”
On the other hand, the Opposition camp was seen still attempting to revive contacts. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is visited Delhi on Tuesday and met with Congress leaders and members of other parties in a bid to revive his contacts. Kumar has already met Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Left leaders. He is also scheduled to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sharad Pawar.
