Thousands of people from all walks of life register to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Delhi, said Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar.
New Delhi: Delhi Congress has said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi, which will enter Delhi from the Badarpur border in Haryana on December 24 at 6 am, will be a historic event. The party leaders said that people from all walks of life, besides Congress workers, will join the Yatra from Badarpur to Red Fort, passing through Ashram Chowk, Nizamuddin, India Gate, ITO, Red Fort and Raj Ghat samadhis. He said that the Yatra will take a two-hour break at the Ashram Chowk before proceeding to Red Fort.
Delhi Congress chief Anil Kumar visited the Yatra route on Thursday to ensure smooth passage of the event in the Capital. He said that after the conclusion of the Yatra at Red Fort at 4.30 pm, Rahul Gandhi, along with senior Congress leaders, will visit Shanti Van, Shakti Sthal, Veer Bhumi and Rajghat to pay homage at the samadhis of the great leaders of the country.
Anil Kumar said that Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Udaya Bhan will hand over the Bharat Jodo Yatra flag to him at the Badarpur border at 6 a.m on December 24 from where thousands of people will join Rahul Ji in the Delhi leg of the Yatra, to make it an event to remember and cherish.
He said that the aim of Rahul Ji’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started from Kanyakumari on September 7, is to unite India, to strengthen the nation, and raise issues affecting the people like price rise, unemployment, inflation, politics of hate and other issues which others dread to raise, but Rahul Ji has shown the courage to do so. He said that the overwhelming response to the Yatra from the people on the route with lakhs joining Rahul Ji, has proved that Shri Rahul Gandhi was speaking up for the people’s concerns and worries.
Kumar said that the Bharat Jod Yatra, which has already covered nearly 3000kms, will cover 12 States and 3500kms before culminating in Jammu and Kashmir in about 150 days.
He added that the Bharat Jodi Yatra has risen above politics to become a massive movement to awaken the consciousness of the people about the issues challenging and affecting the nation due to the autocratic rule of the BJP Government. He said that the overwhelming response to the Yatra from lakhs of people across the country has rattled the BJP, which has been striving hard to scuttle this people’s movement, but without success, as Congress workers and people from all strata of society have made it a historic journey.
