The Delhi Court judge said that he is concerned about the good name of Ayurveda being destroyed. Ayurveda is a recognised, ancient system of medicine.
New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Wednesday expressed its concern over Baba Ramdev’s statement that US President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 despite taking vaccines and his terming of it as a ‘failure’ of medical science.
Hearing a suit filed by doctors associations against Ramdev for his statements against allopathy, a single bench of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani said statement made in such way can affect India’s relations with other nations. He said that the statement will bring bad repute to Ayurveda. The single bench judge of Delhi Court said that good name of Ayurveda should not be destroyed as it is an ancient and respected system of medicine.

Let’s not do anything to harm the good name of Ayurveda. He also added that people are being named which can have international consequences for country’s relations with foreign countries. Naming a leader affect good relations with foreign nations.
Justice Bhambhani told Baba Ramdev that he has a followers, disciples who believe in him but please avoid misleading the people by saying beyond what is official. He asked whether he would undertake to stop making any further statements about Coronil till the pendency of the case.
The bench added, “I decide not to take the vaccine but it’s quite another thing to say “look, forget the vaccine, it’s useless but take this, which formulation I am propagating should be administered to everyone including world leaders”.
Since Baba Ramdev’s counsel argued that the case was being made Congress vs BJP, the High Court judge said that there is no room for politics in the courtroom.
It may be noted that several associations of doctors have approached the court seeking injunction against Ramdev’s ‘misinformation campaign’ at the time of Covid-19 pandemic. The doctors have alleged that Ramdev has been spreading ‘misinformation’ against allopathy and doctors practising in the field.
