Delhi Education Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi expressed deep emotions as she responded to the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case. Atishi, addressing the media from a school in Delhi, tearfully stated, “Today the truth has won, the students of Delhi have won. He was put in jail because he provided good education to poor children.”

AAP Leaders Celebrate “Victory of Truth”
AAP leaders hailed the Supreme Court’s verdict as a triumph of truth and justice. Sisodia, who had been in custody for nearly 18 months, was granted bail by a bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan. The court noted that it would be a “travesty of justice” to keep Sisodia incarcerated without significant progress in the trial.
Atishi, reflecting the sentiment of her party, added, “He was implicated in a false case. He gave a bright future to the children of Delhi. Today we are happy and now we are waiting that in the same way, Delhi’s popular Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also come out. This is the victory of the people of Delhi.”
The Controversy Surrounding the Delhi Liquor Policy
Manish Sisodia’s arrest on February 26, 2023, by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was linked to the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22.

The controversy intensified when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Sisodia on March 9, 2023, in connection with a money laundering case related to the CBI’s FIR. Following his arrest, Sisodia resigned from his ministerial post on February 28, 2023.
Legal Proceedings and High-Profile Arrests
The legal battle over the case has involved several high-profile arrests, including that of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. On Thursday, a Delhi court extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody until August 20 in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation by the CBI. Despite being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in a related ED case on July 12, Kejriwal remains in Tihar Jail, as he has yet to post the required bail bond.
Atishi’s emotional response underscores the significance of the Supreme Court’s decision for AAP, which has faced significant legal and political challenges in recent months. The party views Sisodia’s release as a moral victory, affirming their commitment to education and social welfare in the face of adversity.
