Both Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party and Sharmila’s party have never sat at one platform. The YSRCP had issued a statement clarifying that the party or YS Jagan Reddy had nothing to do with it even before Sharmila announced that she is going to launch YSR Telangana party.

Hyderabad: In a major development in southern state Andhra Pradesh, mother of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother YS Vijayalakshmi on Friday resigned from YSR Congress’ honorary president post. Vijayalakshmi, popularly known as Vijayamma in the southern state, announced to quit from the post on first day of mega meeting of the ruling party.
Vijayamma, after her resignation, announced that she is going to stand with the political campaign led by her daughter YS Sharmila in neighbouring Telangana state. Her announcement came amid ongoing meeting of the party leaders in Guntur. While addressing the leaders, Vijayamma announced her decision at the end of her speech. Her son and state chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was also present when the announcement was made by her mother. She said that despite resigning from the party, she will continue to be with son Jagan Mohan Reddy as his mother and with the people of Andhra Pradesh.
“My daughter YS Sharmila has been fighting alone in Telangana to do her bit to realise YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s dreams for the people of the state. There was lots of rumours, controversies and speculation about me siding with my daughter so have decided to end them. I have decided to stand with her putting all unnecessary controversy,” Vijayamma said.
She said that she is sure that her son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be re-elected as chief minister in the state. During the difficult periods, I was with Jagan Mohan Reddy and now its good time for him. I feel guilty if I don’t stand with my daughter. So, hearing the voice of my conscience, I am quitting my honorary president post.” Vijayamma said.
Both Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party and Sharmila’s party have never sat at one platform. The YSRCP had issued a statement clarifying that the party or YS Jagan Reddy had nothing to do with it even before Sharmila announced that she is going to launch YSR Telangana party.
It has also been speculated that there is property dispute between Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister Sharmila. Amid reports of escalation of acrimony between them in recent past, Vijayamma has been staying away from her son.
