Mumbai: Moments after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announce his resignation from his post on Facebook Live, celebrations started in BJP camp. State BJP were seen distributing sweets to each other. While celebrating the occasion, senior party leaders from the state including former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis were seen greeting each other at Mumbai’s iconic Taj Hotel. The leaders were also seen shouting slogans and eating sweets.
Fadnavis, in a tweet, said, “Interacted and met all MLAs at a meeting of @BJP4Maharashtra and independent MLAs in Mumbai with leaders @ChDadaPatil, @SMungantiwar bhau, @mipravindarekar, @girishdmahajan ji, @ShelarAshish, @cbawankule. #BJP #Maharashtra.”
Maharashtra BJP also tweeted, “I will come again For the creation of a new Maharashtra! Jai Maharashtra.”
Meanwhile, Devendra Fadnavis may stake claim to form government as the outgoing chief minister is on his way to Raj Bhawan to submit his resignation to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. If reports to believe, Fadnavis may take oath on July 1 along with Eknath Shinde as his deputy. Besides this 27 BJP MLA and 17 Shiv Sena rebel MLAs take oath as minister.

Meanwhile, minutes after announcement to step down from the post of chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray submitted his resignation to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari late night on Wednesday. As per the report, the Governor accepted Thackeray’s resignation and said him to officiate till swearing in of new chief minister takes place.
Uddhav Thackeray, after announcing to quit from his post, took driving seat of his car to reach Raj Bhawan. His both sons including Aditya Thackeray also accompanied him in the car. Thackeray, after announcing his resignation from the top post, also resigned from the post of MLC.

Thackeray resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday minutes after the Supreme Court of India refused to stay the floor test ordered by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. As per the report, Thackeray left for the Governor’s residence to hand over his resignation immediately after Facebook Live.
Outgoing Maharashtra CM said that he is satisfied that his government has officially renamed Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv – the cities named by Balasaheb Thackeray. Thackeray, during his address on Facebook Live, said that he expresses his gratitude to MVA partners-NCP and Congress- for supporting the government’s decision. Anil Parab, Subhash Desai and Aaditya Thackeray were present when the proposal was passed.”
