Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Punjab minister Anmol Gagan Maan has announced her resignation as a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and her decision to exit politics altogether. The Kharar MLA submitted her resignation on Sunday to Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
Sharing her decision via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Maan wrote in Punjabi, “My heart is heavy, but I have decided to leave politics. My resignation from the post of MLA to the Speaker should be accepted.” She further added, “My best wishes are with the party. I hope the Punjab government will live up to the expectations of the people.”
From Cabinet Minister to Political Exit
Anmol Gagan Maan was elected from the Kharar constituency in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections and briefly served in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s cabinet. She held several significant portfolios during her ministerial tenure, including tourism and culture, investment promotion, labour, and hospitality. However, she was removed during a cabinet reshuffle last year.
A well-known face in the Punjabi music industry before joining politics, Maan gained popularity with tracks like Suit, Ghaint Purpose, and Sherni. Her move into politics was widely covered, and she was considered one of the prominent women leaders in AAP’s Punjab unit.

His dream of uplifting society always fills us with courage and inspiration.”
Her sudden departure from politics has drawn attention within political circles in Punjab.
