India vs Bangladesh Test series: The India vs Bangladesh second Test match will go ahead as scheduled at Green Park, Kanpur, on September 27, despite concerns over potential protests, a senior official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed.
Reports surfaced regarding threats of protests from the Hindu Mahasabha against the Bangladesh cricket team, following alleged violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. However, the BCCI official reassured that the match will not be relocated. “Yes, we are monitoring and with the concerned authorities as far as those threats are concerned, but we have done everything to hold that match. The stadium is ready to welcome both teams, and it’s not going anywhere,” the India Today quoted a source.
The official added that the situation is being closely monitored in Kanpur, as well as at other venues, but no alternate arrangements have been considered.
Bangladesh Prepares for SG Ball Challenge
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is gearing up for the India vs Bangladesh second Test series, with batter Litton Das expressing the team’s focus on adapting to the SG ball, which is used in India’s Test matches. Bangladesh typically uses the Kookaburra ball in home matches and recently concluded a Test series against Pakistan with the same.

“The ball will be a different one in India. It is a little harder to play against the SG ball. The Kookaburra ball is easier to play when it gets old. It is the opposite with the SG ball,” Litton Das explained, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. The SG ball’s more prominent seam makes it challenging for batsmen, particularly as it ages during the match, adding an extra layer of difficulty for the visiting Bangladesh side.
Bangladesh Aims to Build on Recent Success
Bangladesh enters the series looking to build on its recent historic Test success in Pakistan, as they prepare for two red-ball matches against India. The series kicks off on September 21 in Chennai, followed by the highly anticipated second Test in Kanpur. This series marks another major challenge for Bangladesh, as they face India on home turf and grapple with the SG ball.
With the situation in Kanpur under close watch, both teams are set to face off in what promises to be a gripping contest.
