On Thursday, when Anurag Bharadwaj’s parents sat on a protest demanding action against the school authorities, SDM Shubhangi Shukla was heard screaming at the child’s mother Neha Bharadwaj.
New Delhi: In a shocking video, the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Modinagar in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh was seen shouting and wagging her finger at a bereaved mother who lost her son in an accident on Wednesday. The video was shot on Thursday when the parents of the child sat on a protest and went viral on Friday.
The Class IV student, identified as Anurag Bharadwaj, was on his way to school on Wednesday when he reportedly felt giddy and leaned out of the window. Right at that moment, the driver of the school bus drove in such a manner that the child’s head hit an electricity pole resulting in the child’s instant death. According to reports, both the driver and a staff in the bus were arrested.
On Thursday, when Bharadwaj’s parents sat on a protest demanding action against the school authorities, SDM Shubhangi Shukla was heard screaming at the child’s mother Neha Bharadwaj.
In the short clip, while the mother is visibly inconsolable, Shukla is seen wagging her finger at her and telling her, “You don’t understand anything. How many times should I make you understand?”
She was further heard saying, “Chup ho jaiye ekdam, bass ho gaya (Just keep shut. Enough is enough).”
“Aap samajhti kyu nahi hai, main aapko chup rehne ko bol rahi hu (Why don’t you understand? I am asking you to keep quiet),” she was heard telling the mother.
While Neha refuses to budge even as Shukla keeps shouting at her, she also shouts back at the SDM and asks her, “Was he your son?”
The insensitive move by the officer reached the office of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who assured action against the school, the bus staff and the the Transport Department. He also asked to check the fitness of each bus and said strict action will be taken against those found responsible in the death.
