The ‘Buyer-Seller Meet’ was attended by over 50 SMEs and businesses from Mauritius, India and WASME’s member countries from a wide range of industry sectors

New Delhi: The World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) hosted a ‘Buyer Seller Meet’ with the Hindu Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Professionals (HBCCIP), Mauritius, on September 3 at the WASME House Noida.

A 20-member business delegation from the HBCCIP, Mauritius, was led by Shradhanand Beharry, president of HBCCIP, and Nitesh Beeharry, executive member.

The meeting was attended by Reema B Robee, second secretary, Mauritian Embassy in India, Seeraj Nundlall, investment and trade councillor of the Republic of Mauritius, Dr R K Bharti, joint director, MSME-DFO, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India.

Dr Sankiv Layek, executive secretary, WASME, shared the welcome address and thanked the HBCCIP for the initiative. Dr Sampa Banerjee, executive director, WASME, in her address said, “WASME has partnerships with many key organisations in Mauritius, including the Ministry of Industrial Development, SMEs and cooperatives.”  

In his keynote address, Ambassador Dr. K C Jankee, Mauritius Embassy in Russia, and president of WASME shared his delight for the Mauritius delegation and stated that with WASME and HBCCIP strategic collaboration many deliberations can be initiated to enhance trade between the two countries and SME support activities in Mauritius.

Beharry, while updating on the SMEs and enterprise support provided by the chamber, said, “The chamber is vigorously working to catalyse the trade and skill development for the SMEs.” He reiterated that WASME and HBCCIP’s strategic partnership will further enable SME development in the country.

Nundlall and Dr Bharti also addressed the participants and talked about various key initiatives undertaken by the government of Mauritius and India respectively to support SMEs and budding entrepreneurs.

The ‘Buyer-Seller Meet’ was attended by over 50 SMEs and businesses from Mauritius, India and WASME’s member countries from a wide range of industry sectors manufacturing, agro-industry, finance, IT, media, construction, solar energy, hospitality, etc. 

The meeting enabled the participants to have fruitful interaction with each other and forge partnerships and collaborations, WASME said in a statement.
