A heartbreaking LinkedIn post by a Mumbai-based professional, Ashish Vishwakarma, has gone viral, drawing attention to the tragic death of his friend Parag Honmukhe, who allegedly succumbed to toxic workplace pressure just two months into a new job.
Parag, who had recently joined an asset management company in Mumbai, reportedly suffered a sudden heart attack, which Vishwakarma attributes to unbearable mental and physical stress caused by a hostile work environment. “Last night, I lost my best friend Parag Honmukhe to a sudden heart attack. He was just starting his career… the toll of an extremely toxic work environment began to show mentally and physically,” Vishwakarma wrote in his post.
He further alleged that Parag’s reporting manager played a key role in creating a high-pressure environment with unreasonable expectations, adding that Parag had confided in close friends about the mental toll it was taking. “He was trying to stay strong, to prove himself, but the stress was clearly breaking him down. No one deserves to feel like that at work,” the post read.

Calling for corporate accountability, Vishwakarma criticized the broader system that enables such toxicity: “Toxic managers don’t thrive in isolation; they thrive in systems that allow this behavior to continue unchecked… Work should not cost lives.”
The post quickly gained traction, with many users sharing their own experiences under the same manager, Altaf Salim, and echoing Vishwakarma’s claims. “Totally Agreed… I left because of his toxic behaviour,” one user commented.
“Horrible work environment and toxic management… May justice be served,” another added.
Some users, however, cautioned against jumping to conclusions without a full investigation, stating: “The manager is also an employee, not the owner… putting allegations is simple without knowing the reason.”
The viral post has sparked a larger conversation about mental health, workplace pressure, and corporate responsibility, with calls for government intervention and better employee protections.
