Patna: In a major embarrassment for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday announced to resign soon. The RJD leader made announcement in this regard on his official Twitter handle tagging his father, mother, brother, sister and others. He claimed to submit resignation to father who is the RJD president.
Tej Pratap tweeted in Hindi, “I followed in my father’s footsteps. Gave respect to all the workers, I will submit my resignation soon after meeting my father. @laluprasadrjd @RJDforIndia @yadavtejashwi @RabriDeviRJD @MisaBharti @Chiranjeev_INC.”
Tej Pratay, a sitting MLA and former Bihar minister, however, has not revealed the reason of quitting the party which was founded by his father Lalu Prasad Yadav. It is also not clear whether he will give up MLA post, party’s membership or both.

Ramraj Yadav, head of the city unit of Yuva RJD, had alleged that he was stripped, beaten up and abused by Tej Pratap and his loyal supporters. He alleged beating inside the house of the Tej Pratap’s mother Rabri Devi on Friday as there was an Iftar party was scheduled to take place.
It may be noted that this is not the first incident when there is a discord between Tej Pratap and other RJD leaders. On many occasions, Tej Pratap has accused senior leaders of damaging the party by misleading his younger brother Tejasvi Yadav. He has also accused other family members of maintaining over rift within the party.
