According to the reports, around 15 people were injured after getting under the debris of the under-construction building. It was a 5,000-square-yard godown whose wall collapsed.

New Delhi: At least five people were died and nine others were injured in a wall collapse incident in Alipur area on Friday. As per the reports, several people are still trapped under debris. Police and Fire Department have reportedly rescued 10 people from the spot.

According to the reports, around 15 people were injured after getting under the debris of the under-construction building. It was a 5,000-square-yard godown whose wall collapsed.

Municipal Corporation of Delhi, in a statement, said that the wall was being constructed on private land in Bakoli village which is a rural village. SDM had issued a restraint order against the construction.

It further said that the MCD had also carried out demolition action on 22 April and wrote letter after demolition to concerned Police Station to keep a watch and not let construction happen again. On July 13 during field visit by JE, construction activities were found and after booking the property he had issued notice to the owner in this regard.

Prime Minister, in a statement, said, “Anguished by the mishap in Alipur, Delhi. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured recover at the earliest.”

Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena tweeted, Saddened at the tragic loss of precious lives in a wall collapse in Alipur, North Delhi. The reasons behind the unfortunate incident are being inquired and the injured are being provided necessary medical aid.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Tragic accident happened in Alipur. The district administration is engaged in relief and rescue work. I am personally monitoring the relief work. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls.”

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in a tweet, said, “The Alipur accident is very painful. Rescue operation is going on by the administration. The Delhi government is with the victims in this hour of grief. CM @ArvindKejriwal Ji is keeping an eye on the entire rescue work. I pray to God for peace to the departed souls and the injured to be safe.”
