The EAM said that Ukrainian authorities, in the beginning, had signaled that the emerging situation was “manageable” and that everything was under control. “We were in constant touch with Ukrainian authorities and even universities. We were very frustrated with some of the universities,” he said.

Prime Minister Office said that PM Modi called for an end to violence as Lavrov discussed him the situation between Russia and Ukraine. He also talked about peace negotiations. “Prime Minister reiterated his call for an early cessation of violence, and conveyed India’s readiness to contribute in any way to the peace efforts,” said the press statement.

The Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi landed in India hours after India rejected his statement on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at a recent session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said that China has no locus standi to comment on this issue.
