In her FIR, Swati Maliwal claimed that Bibhav Kumar, the Chief Minister’s personal secretary, brutally assaulted her during her visit to Kejriwal’s residence. She accused Bibhav Kumar of kicking, punching and abusing her, tearing her clothes and causing severe injuries to her head and leg.
The emergence of the CCTV footage has intensified the ongoing political clash between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Swati Maliwal. AAP leader Atishi accused Swati Maliwal of collaborating with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to tarnish the party’s image during the general election.

This incident has led to fierce political debates, with the BJP heavily criticising Arvind Kejriwal for his silence. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia labelled Arvind Kejriwal the “main criminal” for not acting during the alleged assault.
During a press conference in Lucknow, where Arvind Kejriwal appeared with Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Arvind Kejriwal deflected questions regarding the incident. Singh acknowledged Kumar’s misconduct but redirected criticism towards the BJP, demanding accountability for various women’s issues under their governance.
Meanwhile, the accused, Bibhav Kumar, has been arrested by the Delhi Police. A senior police officer confirmed that Bibhav Kumar was apprehended from the Chief Minister’s residence around noon and taken to the police station for questioning.
In her FIR, against Bibhav Kumar, Swati Maliwal described a harrowing experience, stating, “I felt absolutely shocked and was screaming for help over and over again. In order to protect myself, I pushed him away with my legs. At that time, he pounced on me, brutally dragged and deliberately pulled my shirt up.”
