Shobharani Kushwah’s husband, former MLA B L Kushwah, is now in jail in a case of honour killing.

Jaipur: Days after serving her a showcause notice, the Rajasthan unit of the BJP expelled Sobharani Kushwa, the party’s Dholpur MLA, for cross-voting in favour of a Congress candidate in the recently-held Rajya Sabha polls.
The BJP, which had served Kushwa a notice and had asked her to reply within June 19, did not wait for the cut-off date as Kushwa, instead of answering the showcause notice, went on to hold a press conference against the party leadership.
In a statement, Kushwa had said, “After destroying my family when they (BJP) felt that the Kushwah community not just in Dholpur but in all of Rajasthan may slip out of their hands, they approached us and made some promises to the state president and some youths. But not a single promise has been fulfilled till now.”

“We were not kept among the confidants and asked to vote for the Independent candidate. This is the same person who had aired fake rumours against us across the country in 2014 and that person, riding on money power, was openly discussing cross-voting, despite not having sufficient numbers. Our followers do not accept such a person,” Kushwa had said.
Issuing the letter to Kushwa, Om Pathak, Member Secretary of BJP’s Central Disciplinary Committee, said, “…rather than submitting a clarification with the Central Disciplinary Committee, you, in a press note on June 11, publicly levelled unrestrained and unverified allegations on the party leadership.”
Shobharani Kushwah’s husband, former MLA B L Kushwah, is now in jail in a case of honour killing. Following his incarceration, B L Kushwah lost his Assembly membership which paved way for Shobharani Kushwah’s way to get a ticket.
