AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “They (BJP) say take our offer of Rs 20 crore or face CBI cases like (Manish) Sisodia.”
New Delhi: In a press conference by five senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, the party alleged that the BJP is trying to lure MLAs with cash and threats. Although the saffron party has denied the charges, the AAP said BJP is trying its best to break the party by using central investigating agencies.
The party’s national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said he will expose who the Centre is using central agencies like CBI, ED and others to topple the government in Delhi. On the CBI and ED probe against senior AAP leader and minister Manish Sisodia, Singh said that the BJP tried to do a “Shinde” on him, referring to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Singh added, “They (BJP) say take our offer of Rs 20 crore or face CBI cases like Sisodia.” He added that AAP leaders like Ajay Dutt, Sanjeev Jha, Somnath Bharati, and Kuldeep Kumar have been approached by the BJP. “All of them have been offered Rs 20 crore each if they join alone and Rs 25 crore if they bring along others,” Singh alleged.
Somnath Bharti said, “They (BJP) said they know cases against Manish Sisodia are fake but the senior leaders of BJP have decided to bring down the AAP. BJP’s leaders have been assigned to get AAP leaders to the saffron party’s fold.”
Singh challenged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government and further said, “You must have threatened and brought down governments in many states but this is Delhi. Here people have chosen Kejriwal thrice.”
In a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “This is a very serious matter. To take stock of the situation and to chalk out further strategy, a meeting of our party’s Political Affairs Committee has been called at my residence today at 4 pm.”
Sisodia too warned the BJP-led Centre against making efforts to “poach” AAP MLAs by misusing central agencies and offering money. He said AAP leaders will “give up” their lives but will not betray their party as they are the “soldiers” of Arvind Kejriwal and followers of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said AAP keeps releasing “trailers” but the “film” never arrives. “They keep complaining that their party is being broken apart and claim to be in possession of audio clips of BJP offers but wouldn’t release it and will wait for the ‘right time’,” he said. He said the AAP is trying to deviate and deflect from corruption charges against Delhi ministers.
