New Delhi: Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Subhash Yadav who is considered a close associate of party supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a sand mining case. Yadav was arrested by the probe agency after 14-hour raid conducted at eight locations associated with the RJD leader. The ED has framed the leader after his alleged involved in illegal sand mining activities.
The probe was initiated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) based on 20 FIRs registered by the Bihar Police against M/s Broadsons Commodities Pvt Ltd (BCPL) whose director is Subhash Yadav. The agency, in its FIRs, accused BCPL of engaging in illegal sand mining and sale without using e-challans, raising serious concerns about environmental regulations and revenue losses.
It has been alleged that a whopping Rs 161 crore was generated through the illegal sale of sand and a syndicate has been controlling the illicit sand trade with members investing funds in companies like BCPL and profiting from the unauthorised sale of sand.

Yadav, who was arrested under PMLA, allegedly played a key role in the whole syndicate of illegal sand mining activities. The ED conducted searches on Saturday at six premises in Patna associated to him and his close aides. The agency unearthed crucial evidences following which arrested was made on Saturday night. According to the media reports, cash exceeding Rs 2.3 crore and incriminating documents were seized during the raids. The ED has earlier arrested JD(U) leader and Bihar Legislative Council member Radha Charan Sah and his son and has also taken stern action against Subhash Yadav’s associates who are part of the illicit sand mining racket.
Yadav, who has strong political connections with the RJD Supremo has contested Lok Sabha elections in 2019 and was active in the state ahead of upcoming elections.
