The trend of people dancing in public spaces such as metro trains, railway platforms, and other public areas has seen a sharp increase recently, despite facing criticism and repeated warnings from authorities.
This issue was highlighted again when videos surfaced of a young woman dancing to Bhojpuri songs inside a moving local train in Mumbai and at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

The videos, shared by @mumbaimatterz on the social media platform X, tagged the Government Railway Police (GRP) Mumbai, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mumbai, and the Railway Ministry, urging them to put a stop to such activities.
In these videos, the woman can be seen dancing provocatively inside both general and ladies’ coaches of the Mumbai local trains, as well as on the platform at CSMT station, causing a disturbance to other commuters. The caption accompanying the video expressed frustration with the disruption caused by hawkers, beggars, and now reel makers in Mumbai locals, calling for immediate action from the authorities.

The videos received significant backlash online, with many labelling the woman’s behaviour as a nuisance and inappropriate for public transportation. Commenters argued that such actions are disrespectful to other passengers and called for stricter enforcement of public decency laws.
In response to the videos and public outcry, the official X handle of Mumbai Central DRM instructed the Security Department of Mumbai Division to investigate the incident and take necessary action. They assured the public that the matter had been forwarded to the relevant officers for action.
Public reaction to the incident was overwhelmingly negative, with many users demanding more severe penalties for such behaviour. Comments included calls for the woman’s arrest and removal from Mumbai, criticisms of society for encouraging such behaviour through social media attention, and suggestions that both authorities and responsible citizens should take action to prevent such incidents in the future.
