Delhi Congress intensifies campaign for its candidate Prem Lata

New Delhi: Congress on Monday intensified their campaign for party candidate Prem Lata as public canvassing for the Rajender Nagar assembly seat by-election reached the final lap, with Congress pitching itself in a strong position among the local people. Smt. Prem Lata, along with a large number of Congress workers and leaders, held road shows and meetings at Dashghara, Todapur, Naraina Village and many other areas, as the Congress campaign peaked with the people of Rajender Nagar showing an open inclination for change as the Aam Aadmi Party MLA had ignored the constituency to focus his attention on other matters, including Punjab.

Prem Lata said that the Arvind Kejrwial Government and the BJP Government had neglected Rajendra Nagar for the past eight years, and when Congress is putting up an intense fight in the by-election and smells victory, AAP and BJP were making fancy promises, but the voters of Rajender Nagar have seen through their games and would not  believe their words again.

She said that the Aam Aadmi Party was rattled by an internal poll that predicts a humbling defeat for the AAP candidate, as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s road shows have made no impact among the voters. She appealed to the voters not to squander their votes by voting for the AAP candidate, as he was an outsider, and does not know anything about the constituency. She said that the fight was between Congress and BJP in the by-election as the AAP candidate was nowhere in the picture.

The Congress candidate said that it was an irony that despite the former AAP MLA from the area being the vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, he could do little to address the water woes in Rajender Nagar. She said that the AAP candidate was silent about the water problem in Rajendra Nagar as he was tongue-tied due to the inaction and incompetence of the Arvind Kejriwal Government all these years.

She said that Kejriwal had to face angry women during his road shows as they questioned him about the dirty water they were getting and for opening liquor outlets everywhere to make Delhi “Nashe Ki Rajdhani”. She said that broken roads, garbage piles everywhere, clogged drains and lack of other basic facilities were the major issues affecting Rajendra Nagar, and the voters still member her for the good work she had done when she was a Municipal Councillor, and she was confident of romping home in the by-election.
