In a shocking revelation, police sources disclosed that the mother of a 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal Porsche car crash in Pune swapped her blood sample with her son’s at Sassoon General Hospital. The swap was orchestrated by Dr. Shrihari Halnor and his staff, according to the police.
Dr Srihari Halnor, accused of manipulating the blood sample, took the woman’s sample while she was present at the hospital. Following the arrest of Dr. Srihari Halnor and Dr Ajay Tawade, another accused, the woman has gone missing, and the police are actively searching for her.
The teenager, son of a prominent city builder, allegedly consumed alcohol at a restaurant and club before speeding in a Porsche and colliding with a bike on May 19, resulting in the deaths of IT professionals Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
In response to the scandal, Sassoon General Hospital dismissed Dr Srihari Halnor, the chief medical officer, who was subsequently arrested on Monday.

Police revealed that Dr Srihari Halnor confessed to altering the blood sample under Dr Ajay Tawade’s directives. The hospital’s dean, Vinayak Kale, mentioned that Dr Ajay Tawade, despite facing charges in kidney transplant and drug cases, was appointed as the head of the Forensic Medical Department on the recommendation of MLA Sunil Tingre and with approval from the state’s medical education minister, Hasan Mushrif.
On the morning of the incident, the teen driver’s father was in communication with Dr Ajay Tawade via WhatsApp, FaceTime, and a general call, totaling 14 calls between 8:30 am and 10:40 am. The blood sample was taken at 11 am.
Suspicions arose when a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report showed no alcohol in the initial blood sample. A second test at a different hospital and subsequent DNA analysis confirmed that the samples were from two different individuals. This discrepancy led investigators to believe that evidence had been tampered with by the doctors to shield the juvenile driver.
