New Delhi: In a move to avert any untoward incident in future, central government on Friday directed social media platforms to remove content justifying beheading of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiyalal Teli who has reportedly supported Nupur Sharma’s remark on Prophet Mohammad.
It is important to note that social media platforms are abuzz with the video shot by the perpetrators during the attack and also the one that they shot later while claiming responsibility of the attack. It was further seen that many people have started justifying beheading of the tailor on various social media platforms. The law enforcement agency, in a preventive measure, had appealed not to run the video as it may harm peace and tranquility in the region.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in a notice dated June 29 issued to various social media platforms dated June 29, said, “Need to remove content which encourages, glorifies or justifies brutal murder in Udaipur.”
It further said, “Through this notice, you are directed to forthwith ensure that as part of your obligation of due diligence, safety and trust, you proactively and immediately remove any and all content, either in the form of a text message, audio, video, photo or any other form, that seem to encourage/glorify/justify this murder and killing with a view to prevent any incitement and disruption of public order and to restore public peace and harmony.”

On Tuesday last, a man, a tailor by profession, who had put up a status in support of expelled BJP leader Nupur Sharma, was beheaded by two assailants in Udaipur’s Maldas on Tuesday. The beheading took place near the Udaipur bus stand and the incident was recorded by the assailants.
The police had managed to arrest the duo — Gaus Mohammed & Riyaz — both residents of Surajpole in Udaipur. Meanwhile, a team of the National Investigation Agency has been rushed to Udaipur to investigate the matter.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had said, “I condemn the heinous murder of youth in Udaipur. Strict action will be taken against all the criminals involved in this incident and the police will go to the bottom of the crime. I appeal to all parties to maintain peace. Strictest punishment will be given to every person involved in such a heinous crime.”

He had added, “I appeal to everyone not to try to spoil the atmosphere by sharing the video of this incident. By sharing the video, the criminal’s purpose of spreading hatred in the society will be successful.”
