New Delhi: On a day when Russian Vladimir Putin announced that he has ordered military operations in Eastern Ukraine, #WWIII was seen trending on Twitter with people from across the globe sharing memes on the topic.

While the invasion by Russia, which till now has claimed quite a few lives, is escalating on a serious level, Twitterati seemed to take advantage of the situation and joke about it.

One such tweet, shared by the verified profile Ukraine / Україна (@Ukraine), which was more of a cartoon than a meme showed Adolf Hitler affectionately caressing Vladimir Putin. Although people said this is no time to share such pictures, the tweet garnered over 3.35 lakh likes and retweeted at least 1.44 lakh times.
