Following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s fierce critique of the BJP that stirred significant commotion in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged NDA MPs to adhere to parliamentary rules and maintain exemplary conduct on the House floor.
During this morning’s NDA parliamentary party meeting, attended by prominent BJP leaders and ministers, PM Modi addressed the MPs for the first time since beginning his third consecutive term as Prime Minister.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted the congratulatory sentiments expressed by NDA MPs towards the Prime Minister on his re-election, along with their commitment to unwavering support.
“The Prime Minister delivered a crucial message, emphasizing that all MPs are in Parliament to serve the nation. He urged NDA MPs to prioritise this service. He also provided guidance on proper conduct in the House,” Minister Rijiju reported.
According to Rijiju, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of following parliamentary rules when raising issues both of local and national importance. “He instructed us to adhere to rules, uphold parliamentary democracy, and ensure our behavior meets high standards. He emphasized the significance of following parliamentary traditions,” Rijiju added, noting the NDA MPs’ commitment to adhering to PM Modi’s directives.
Reflecting on the recent disruptions, Rijiju criticised the behaviour of Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. “Yesterday, the way Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi behaved, turning his back to the Speaker and showing disrespect, is something we must avoid. This serves as a lesson for us,” Rijiju remarked.

When asked if the meeting addressed Gandhi’s comments and the previous day’s uproar, Rijiju clarified, “This meeting focused on enhancing our coordination. It was not about the previous day’s events.” He also mentioned that the Prime Minister would be responding to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha later in the day.
In his recent role as Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi had launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing its leaders of undermining the Constitution and misusing investigative agencies for political gain. His remarks, some of which were later expunged, sparked loud protests from BJP members, prompting Prime Minister Modi to intervene twice.
While BJP leaders accused Gandhi of insulting Hindus, the Congress countered that his comments were directed at the BJP and its ideological mentor, the RSS.
