Jual Oram took charge as the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs on Friday in New Delhi. He was warmly welcomed by Secretary (Tribal Affairs) Vibhu Nayar and other senior officers of the Ministry.
Upon assuming his new role, Jual Oram expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with the responsibility of working towards the upliftment of tribal communities.
In a statement to the media, Oram highlighted the significant progress made over the past decade under the Prime Minister’s leadership, emphasizing the Ministry’s efforts to ensure comprehensive development for tribals across the country. He pledged his commitment to continuing this momentum and achieving 360° development for tribal communities.
Jual Oram tweeted about the Ministry’s achievements, stating, “In the last 10 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has worked tremendously to ensure all-round development of tribals across the country.”
After taking charge, Jual Oram chaired a meeting with senior Ministry officials to review the progress of various programmes and schemes. He directed the officers to ensure relentless efforts in promoting the welfare and development of tribal communities nationwide.
Jual Oram has a long-standing political career, having been a member of the 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, and 17th Lok Sabha, representing the Sundargarh constituency since 1998. Notably, he was the first Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, appointed on October 13, 1999, by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, when the Ministry was first established.
