Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections results: Trends emerging from the ongoing vote counting process in Andhra Pradesh suggest a potential resurgence for N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP), signaling a dramatic comeback in the state’s Assembly polls.
The party has already announced plans for Chandrababu Naidu to be sworn in as Chief Minister on June 9, sparking jubilant celebrations at the party headquarters. Meanwhile, the ruling YSR Congress finds itself trailing significantly, securing gains in only 24 seats.
In neighbouring Odisha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has surged past the halfway mark, while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) lags behind in the vote count. The electoral process commenced at 8 am, encompassing the task of electing 147 members to Odisha’s Legislative Assembly.
The state of Odisha witnessed simultaneous polling for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections over four phases, spanning from May 13 to June 1. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a stalwart who has held office for over 24 years, leads the BJD’s campaign for another term.

The BJD is contesting all 147 seats, with the BJP and Indian National Congress fielding candidates on the same number of seats, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on seven seats.
In Andhra Pradesh, Assembly Elections coincided with the Lok Sabha polls on May 13. The YSR Congress, vying for another term, contested all 174 seats independently, while the TDP fielded candidates on 144 seats.
The Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the BJP contested on 21 and 10 seats respectively. Notable contenders in this electoral arena include Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (YSRCP), TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, and JSP’s Pawan Kalyan.
