New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta said it is unfortunate for Delhiites that they elected a Chief Minister who at the behest of the liquor mafia is allowing liquor to be served even on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. He also alleged that a major portion of the money being earned in the name of increasing the revenue is being pocketed by Kejriwal and “this greed has made him forget national festivals or religious festivals”.

Gupta also described Kejriwal as anti-Hindu and said, “Earlier there used to be 21 dry days on religious festivals and national festivals but now liquor can be sold even on Diwali, Guru Govind Singh’s anniversary, Mahavir Jayanti and Holi. In other words, while the annual liquor sale is worth Rs 20,000 crore, this would mean an additional sale of liquor worth Rs 1,000 crore. This way Kejriwal has done the job of giving an extra of Rs 1,000 crore bonus to the liquor mafia.”

Gupta said the saffron party will not tolerate the “anti-Hindu mindset of Arvind Kejriwal” and in the coming days, Delhi will see more shops coming up in violation of the laws being closed down. “Already the party (BJP) has got over 300 such liquor joints closed with the help of NGOs and RWAs and now even the excise commissioner has said in a written reply that 157 such liquor shops which are less than 500 metre away from the highways will be closed.”

Gupta said, “The BJP will never allow attempts by the Arvind Kejriwal government to to push youths towards alcoholism with the help of foreign funding by those who want to break the country.”
